SCOUTS BSA TROOP 73
Camping at Camp Tamarancho - December 2021
On December 4, 2021, we met at the beige box in the morning to load camping gear into the cars. We then drove to Camp Tamarancho, just west of San Rafael. After setting up the tents, we headed down to clear fallen branches as clean-up work. Some of the scouts went to the lake to fish; one of the scouts caught a fish, but it was too small to eat. For dinner, we cooked pasta, bacon, and mushrooms on the gas stove in the wooden tent. The meal was delicious. Each scout washed his own dishes, which made it easier for the clean-up crew. After dinner, most of the troop went on a night hike, and they scared each other so much by making loud, spooky noises in the dark. One of them even pretended to be a creature called the "skinwalker". We had s'mores after the night hike; some scouts ate too much marshmallows; we ran out of marshmallows really quickly. The next day, some of the troop woke early at 6 a.m. to fish again. Later, the whole Troop went down to the lake after cleaning the campsite. The camping trip was way more fun than the one to Ranchos Los Mochos as we had better planning. However, the fall weather was really misty due to heavy clouds.
